Eligibility

How does eligibility work?

A diverse group of college students sitting in a circle on the ground conversing. They have school accessories such as books, bags, tablets and laptops.

Who is automatically covered?

If you are a student taking two or more courses, you are automatically enrolled in the health and wellness plan.

Who is not automatically covered?

If you are only taking one course as a part-time student, you are not eligible for enrollment in the plan. However, if you are taking a minimum of two courses, your family members, such as your spouse, common-law partner, or dependent children, are eligible to enroll at the start of the coverage period for an additional fee.

Who is not eligible for coverage?

Students who are not taking the required course load or are not members of the Students' Association of Portage College are not eligible.

Manage your plan

Are you planning to make any of these changes?

During the change of coverage period (from the week before to the second Friday after), you can update your school's default enrollment by filling out the corresponding form to opt out, enroll dependents, or opt (back) in. If you enroll in the fall semester, your benefits coverage will start on September 1st and continue until August 31st. For the winter semester, the coverage begins on January 1st and continues until August 31st. You can find more information about the change of coverage period here.

Can I opt out?
